She is not wrong. We have all experienced some of the common foiling faux pas. As a colorist for 35 years and now a color educator the top three issues I see most are:

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]

1. Foils that slip and bleed marks on the hair

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]

2. What lies beneath: the real story of what is already on the hair

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]

3. Improper lift and cutting the timing short

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” scene_position=”center” bottom_padding=”2%” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” row_border_radius=”none” row_border_radius_applies=”bg” overlay_strength=”0.3″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none” shape_type=””][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_spacing=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]Most of the issues I see stylists having is a result of reaching for a higher level of developer for lightening services. What you may not realize (I did not until about 5 years ago) is that the higher developer will actually leave behind more of the gold/yellow in the hair. What happens is the strength of the developer dictates the speed in which the lightning action happens vs. how light you can get.
So in reality a 10 volume developer will actually get you a cleaner cooler lift it just takes a bit longer. It turns out after all these years that slow and steady really does win the race.[/vc_column_text][nectar_cascading_images image_1_bg_color=”#ea028c” image_1_offset_x_sign=”-” image_1_offset_x=”5%” image_1_offset_y_sign=”+” image_1_offset_y=”5%” image_1_rotate_sign=”+” image_1_rotate=”none” image_1_scale=”0.75″ image_1_animation=”Fade In” image_1_padding=”auto” image_1_box_shadow=”none” image_1_max_width_desktop=”100%” image_1_max_width_mobile=”100%” image_1_image_width_mobile=”default” image_2_url=”31135″ image_2_offset_x_sign=”+” image_2_offset_x=”0%” image_2_offset_y_sign=”-” image_2_offset_y=”5%” image_2_rotate_sign=”+” image_2_rotate=”none” image_2_scale=”0.75″ image_2_animation=”Grow In” image_2_padding=”auto” image_2_box_shadow=”small_depth” image_2_max_width_desktop=”100%” image_2_max_width_mobile=”100%” image_2_image_width_mobile=”default” image_3_offset_x_sign=”+” image_3_offset_x=”0%” image_3_offset_y_sign=”+” image_3_offset_y=”0%” image_3_rotate_sign=”+” image_3_rotate=”none” image_3_scale=”1″ image_3_animation=”Fade In” image_3_padding=”auto” image_3_box_shadow=”none” image_3_max_width_desktop=”100%” image_3_max_width_mobile=”100%” image_3_image_width_mobile=”default” image_4_offset_x_sign=”+” image_4_offset_x=”0%” image_4_offset_y_sign=”+” image_4_offset_y=”0%” image_4_rotate_sign=”+” image_4_rotate=”none” image_4_scale=”1″ image_4_animation=”Fade In” image_4_padding=”auto” image_4_box_shadow=”none” image_4_max_width_desktop=”100%” image_4_max_width_mobile=”100%” image_4_image_width_mobile=”default” element_sizing=”default” image_loading=”default” border_radius=”5px” overflow=”visible”][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]The 40 volume will work faster and more aggressively causing unnecessary damage and leaving the hair with just enough brass to make you reach for a glaze to attempt to cover it up.
I hope you enjoy these three short tip videos for how to avoid the common foiling faux pas.
